Rent-a-car driver killed in Faridpur

Police recovered the body of a car driver from Mathurapur area of Faridpur's Madhukhali upazila yesterday.

The deceased is Md Ujjal, 50, who was working as a rent-a-car driver.

According to local sources, Ujjal's body was found on Gajna-Mathurapur road, on the bank of Mandartola canal.

Locals discovered the body and informed police around 6:30am yesterday. Police then recovered the body and sent it to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital in Faridpur for autopsy.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Madhukali Circle) Sumon Kar confirmed that the driver was killed by unidentified miscreants.

The miscreants used a rope to strangle Ujjal. Moreover, there were eight deep stab wounds on the left side of his chest. After killing him, the miscreants took away his car.

Sumon further added that according to Ujjal's family, he used to drive a rented car in Dhaka. On Tuesday evening, the unidentified miscreants hired his car to go to Gopalganj from Ashulia area of Dhaka. Ujjal was supposed to return to Dhaka that night.
