5 DCs withdrawn within less than four months of posting
The government has withdrawn the deputy commissioners (DCs) of five districts before they could even complete four months at their respective offices.
The withdrawn DCs are Md Saifur Rahman of Netrokona, Kazi Sayemuzzaman of Panchagarh, Mohammad Alam Hossain of Gazipur, Iqbal Hossain of Kushtia, and Shahadat Hossain Masud of Chapainawabganj.
This marks the first major step in withdrawing DCs since the formation of the BNP-led government.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration today, these officers have not been assigned to any other ministry but attached to the Ministry of Public Administration.
These five officers joined their respective postings in mid-November last year.
Sources within the Ministry of Public Administration said officers serving as DCs are typically given the opportunity to serve for two to three years, provided there are no allegations of inefficiency or corruption. However, changing DCs following a change in government is considered a long-standing tradition in the administration.
