CID addl SP, family robbed on way to Chandpur

The car of CID Additional Superintendent of Police Md Shahjahan was robbed on the Cumilla-Chandpur highway early today while he was travelling with his family to his village home in Chandpur to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.

The incident took place at Changahata area under Cumilla's Lalmai upazila around 1:15am, reports our local correspondent quoting the additional SP.

The police's wife and children were in the car. The robbers looted cash, gold ornaments and other goods worth about Tk 4 lakh, the additional SP said.

"A gang of 10-12 robbers stopped our car at an intersection on the Lalmai upazila. Then they hit me twice. At that time, the girls said don't beat my father -- take what you want."

The left after looting, he said, adding, "I immediately informed all the police stations in the vicinity."
