Madrasa teacher sent to jail over rape of student

A Chattogram court yesterday sent a madrasa teacher to jail on charges of raping a male student in Boalkhali upazila of Chattogram.

Aziz Ullah, 22, was arrested from the madrasa on Saturday night, said police.

According to police, the boy is a class two student of a residential madrasa in the upazila. The teacher had allegedly been sexually abusing the eight-year-old for a year. The matter came to light on Saturday after the victim fell ill and complained of pain. Later, he disclosed the matter to his family members.

Md Sirajul Islam, an additional superintendent of police in Chattogram, said after learning about the incident, police detained Aziz Ullah on Saturday night. As the victim’s family has not lodged any case or written complaint so far, police produced him before the court under Section 54 of the CrPC.
