Yunus thanks top bureaucrats for cooperating with interim govt
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today thanked secretaries of all ministries and divisions for their cooperation in running the government.
He expressed his appreciation this morning at his office, ahead of a meeting of the Advisory Council. The remarks came during a brief meeting with secretaries of all ministries and divisions, sources said.
The chief adviser spent about 45 minutes talking to the secretaries, from around 10:15am to 11:00am.
He said many of the goals set during the formation of the interim government had been achieved and expressed hope that the next government would carry forward the unfinished tasks.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a secretary said the meeting was mainly to convey thanks for the bureaucracy’s support in various government activities.
“We began our work focusing on three issues -- reform, justice, and elections. Alongside many reforms, we have left behind more proposals. We hope the next government will consider them,” another secretary quoted the chief adviser.
Nearly all secretaries -- around 70 -- were present at the meeting. Only the cabinet secretary spoke on behalf of the secretaries, according to sources.
