Petrol bombs hurled at Sirajganj Press Club secretary’s house

Attack triggers brief fire but causes no injuries; police and DB launch investigation using CCTV footage

A group of miscreants allegedly hurled petrol bombs at the house of Sirajganj Press Club Secretary Shariful Islam Inna on SB Fazlul Haque Road in Sirajganj last night.
Quoting Shariful, Officer-in-Charge of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station Md Shahidul Islam said the attack took place around 10:00pm, triggering a fire in the house.
However, local residents quickly doused the flames, and no one was injured.
Members of the district police and Detective Branch visited the spot shortly after the incident, OC Shahidul said.
Speaking to The Daily Star, Shariful Islam Inna, Sirajganj district correspondent of Dainik Amar Desh and NTV, said a group of attackers arrived on motorcycles and hurled petrol bombs at his house before fleeing.
“My family members were terrified by the sudden attack. We saw two people fleeing the scene,” he said.
“I cannot understand why my house was attacked in this way,” Inna added.
Police are investigating the incident and working to identify those involved using CCTV footage, the OC said.
