The clash took place while the BNP was holding demonstrations as part of the party's central programme and the AL was holding its peace rally.

At least 18 Chhatra Odhikar Parishad leaders and activists in Bogura were injured yesterday in an attack on their procession, allegedly carried out by members of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).

A petition has been filed with the Supreme Court seeking a stay on a High Court order that cleared the way for GM Quader to perform duties as Jatiya Party chairman.

Following a court order, the Election Commission is set to grant registration to a new political party -- Trinamool BNP.Election Commissioner Md Alamgir yesterday said the Appellate Division recently ordered to provide registration to the party.

“It [unelected government] will never happen. And those who want to go to power should come forward,” she said
