Star Diary
A Surprising Encounter
A couple of days ago, I was going to college by a local bus. After a while, I saw a hermaphrodite get on the bus and sit beside me. At first, I was quite scared as I didn't know what to expect. But I was surprised to see her friendly behaviour when she smiled politely and asked me for the time. Gradually she started a conversation with me. I came to know that she was a graduate in History but unfortunately had to beg for a living. When I ignorantly asked her why she couldn't apply for a job, she laughed and replied that this was out of the question. “How can I apply for a job? There are only two options in all application forms – male or female. Which one would I choose as my gender?” It's sad that hermaphrodites are discriminated in our society and targeted as 'objects' to make fun of. They are deprived of their basic right. They too are creatures of God and we should remember this before behaving badly with them.

UNRULY STUDENTS
The other day, I was heading to my office via the office bus. When my bus reached City College, I saw some unruly students of a university disregarding the traffic rules. They noisily stepped down from their bus and tried to make way for their university bus without considering the disturbance this was causing other people. It was rush hour and everyone was in a hurry to get to their workplace. They had brought the traffic to a standstill for half an hour. Instead of trying to pacify other passengers, they went out of their way to make the day as unpleasant as they could for other passengers. I felt sorry for these students as they seem to have shifted their goals from getting a proper education to showing off their power to others.
