Ok so this may not be the best choice for those of you who are not into sports but the ones who are, this may be jackpot. Truthfully I was never a tennis fan but after seeing this anime, I can call myself a big tennis know-it-all.
The plot circles around a young boy, Eichizen, who gets chosen into the school's official tennis club. He becomes the youngest player who's ever been selected into the team. From then onwards, the team strives on to perform in various tournaments and gain interesting experiences.
One of the best things of this anime would be the crafty blend of humour and suspense. Every dialogue throws some light on the atmosphere and makes every moment enjoyable. We also get to see the different personalities of the team members and their different approaches to tennis. Each of their perspective is also very interesting. Their appearance surely adds more dimensions to the whole thing but also anime-wise, I would even go as far as to say it is one of the best.
Another unusual thing would be the absence of a love line. Though there is little thing going on between Eichizen and the coach's granddaughter, it is really negligible. I was really shocked to see the ability of this drama to captivate audience without any romance which is usually the core of any average anime.
Try it out. I would give this anime 4.8 out of 5. Tennis may not be your thing but this drama portrays more that the sport. It brings out the strength of courage and friendship and how these things are the most important gems in our lives. It shows how every individual is different from the other and that there are so many different kinds of people in this world sharing the same interest but the portrayal is unique. It also teaches us to aim for the impossible and even when it seems like the end, it really isn't. It's never the end unless you yourself draw the finish line.
