Every year, on 16th of December, Bangladesh wears red and green, colours of our national flag. Almost everything -- from rickshaws to large edifices -- proudly puts up national flags, people don red and green attires and paint flags on their cheeks. This year, the celebrations got a new dimension with Bangladeshis forming the largest human flag on earth. Over 27,000 volunteers formed the human flag in a staggering 6 minutes and 16 seconds at the National Parade Ground in Dhaka. Meanwhile, Suhrawardy Udyan, the place where the Pakistan army surrendered in 1971, hosted another colossal event. Tens of thousands sang “Amar Shonar Bangla”, the national anthem of Bangladesh, in unison at 4:31pm in the afternoon. A dazzling show of fireworks lit the evening sky. Photos in this series were shot at the National Parade Ground and Suhrawardy Udyan on December 16.
