Tamim bats with back pain
Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal's back pain has resurfaced ahead of the series against Afghanistan and the left-hander batted at the nets with some discomfort during today's practice.
The national team checked in to their hotel on Saturday and their training had also been foiled the day before on Friday by rain. Tamim who had been prescribed rest on Thursday struggled during the fielding session with fielding coach Shane McDermott today on his return to training, grimacing and holding his back in pain whenever he had to lower himself to collect balls thrown into the ground.
Tamim's fielding session ended shortly afterwards. His frustration saw him ask the physio to move away after the physio has come in to attend to the left-hander.
Tamim also had difficulty while batting at the nets, at one point instructing the bowlers to bowl a fuller length in order to not put further stress on his back. While his drives looked fluent, the backfoot shots caused him discomfort. While batting to spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz, a pull shot caused him to hold his back in pain once more. Tamim had to rest after the back pain resurfaced during the last few days of the team's training sessions and with the Afghanistan Test coming in three days, there are some dark clouds hovering on his availability.
