Tanzid departs after maiden ODI ton

Tanzid Hasan Tamim brought up his maiden ODI ton but could not extend his innings much further, departing for a run-a-ball 107 in the series-deciding third ODI against Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur today.

Soon after reaching the milestone in 98 deliveries with a six in the 33rd over, Tanzid got caught at cover off leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed.

The left-hander had reached the 50-run mark off 47 deliveries and although the team's scoring rate dipped, Tanzid maintained his tempo and kept his strike in three figures.

He was exactly six runs away from the milestone when he hit Salman Ali Agha for his seventh six of the match to bring up his ton. He also hit five boundaries. 

The left-hander guided Bangladesh's innings till his departure in the 37th over. He first formed a century opening stand with Saif Hassan, had a 53-run stand off 67 balls with Najmul Hossain Shanto (27 off 34 balls) and then a 36-run partnership with Litton Das.

After 39 overs, Litton is unbeaten 18 off 27 balls alongside Tawhid Hridoy, 12 off 11, with the team score on 209-3. Bangladesh is now hoping that the pair would deliver the much-needed final flourish. 

Tanzid brings up 50, opening stand breaks at 105

Bangladesh's opening partnership ended on 105 after Saif Hassan lost his middle stump to Shaheen Shah Afridi in the first ball of the 19th over.

Saif departed for 36 off 53 balls, ending what is Bangladesh's third-ever 100-run opening stand in ODIs against Pakistan.

After the end of the 19th over, his partner Tanzid Hasan Tamim remains unbeaten on 63 off 54 balls, after completing his half-century off 47 balls, as Bangladesh have reached 109-1.

Tanzid has now been joined by Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Tanzid, Saif provide solid start

Bangladesh openers Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Saif Hassan have provided a solid start, taking the total to 50-0 at the end of the Powerplay.

Tanzid has been the aggressor of the two, making 30 off 33 balls with a couple of fours and sixes, while Saif is unbeaten on 17 off 27 deliveries.

Pakistan have already tried out for bowlers, but could not make any inroads in the first 10 overs.

Unchanged Bangladesh sent to bat in series decider

Bangladesh were sent in to bat in the series-deciding third ODI against Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur today. 

The three-match series is currently squared up at 1-1, with the hosts winning the first ODI by eight wickets before losing the following match by 128 runs in DLS method. 

The Tigers, who were bundled out for a mere 114, chose to go in with an unchanged squad, while an injury-hit Pakistan side has made three changes. 

Wicketkeeper Ghazi Ghori and all-rounder Saad Masood are making their ODI debuts in place of the injured Hussain Talat and Shamyl Hussain. Pacer Mohammad Wasim has also been replaced by leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed. 

If Bangladesh win today, they will climb up to ninth place from 10th in the ICC ODI rankings.
