Tigers claw back to leave England six down

Star Sports Report

The game is finely in the balance as England lost six wickets for 141 runs after the completion of 35 overs, with a well-set Dawid Malan and Chris Woakes at the crease.

England all-rounder Moeen Ali was the latest to go as he failed to keep out an arm-ball off Mehidi Hasan Miraz. He scored a 32-ball 14 before being deceived by Mehidi.

Mehidi got in on the act for his first wicket dismissing Will Jacks, who scored a 31-ball 26. He bowled a short one which Jacks tried to heave over deep midwicket but the right-handed batter couldn't make adequate contact and was caught in the deep by Afif Hossain.

England skipper Jos Buttler edged one to first slip off the bowling off Taskin Ahmed leaving England four down for 65 runs in the 17th over in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Taskin got one to bounce off a good length outside the off-stump and managed to find the outside edge of Buttler, who couldn't help but poke with his bat.

Buttler managed to hit just one boundary before that in his 10-ball nine-run innings.

Earlier, Taijul Islam joined the party as he picked up two wickets followed by Shakib Al Hasan's one scalp to leave England three down for 45 runs in the 13 over in pursuit of the Tigers' 209.

Bangladesh left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan brought the Tigers their first breakthrough in the opening over of the innings as he sent back England's Jason Joy for four, while the other left-armer in the side, Taijul Islam hit timber when he deceived Phil Slat with one that went on with the arm and then foxed out James Vince with one that turned away.

Having played three straight dot balls in the over, Roy tried to up the ante by coming down the wicket but ended up skying the ball courtesy of a leading edge.
Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal settled underneath the ball and grabbed hold of a simple catch at mid-off.
