Sri Lanka skipper Kusal Mendis appealed Sunday for the governing International Cricket Council to lift its suspension of the country over alleged political interference in the local board.

“I would say in hindsight, Tamim’s experience at the top would have probably benefited us,” Shrinivas told The Daily Star

"I think Liton’s got to battle with himself,” Sriram told The Daily Star before the team’s match against Australia today.

"The ICC suspension of Sri Lanka is illegal. We have been maliciously suspended without giving us an opportunity to respond to the allegation," Ranasinghe told reporters in the capital Colombo.

Mathews became the first player in international cricket to be dismissed for a time ruling after he failed to make himself ready within the stipulated two minutes to face Bangladesh captain and bowler Shakib Al Hasan, whose appeal led to Mathews' exit.

“The batters failed to convert their starts. That will be the biggest learning that everybody would take out of this World Cup,” Sriram told The Daily Star before the Australia match

Bangladesh managed to post 306 for eight after being sent into bat first.

They head into the last-four with a record of seven victories in nine matches, having lost to India and, surprisingly, the Netherlands.
