Bangladesh Clinched  Two world records!

The celebration of victory day this year was different than any other year. At one point I thought that it would be marred by political instability. However, it was proved wrong. People participated in the programmes and activities and celebrated the victory day. This year's celebration is significant for two reasons. One is that 27,117 people joined hands to form the world's biggest man made flag at national parade ground. Previous record was held by the Pakistanis. Another record was more than three lakh people sang national anthem in chorus in the Suhrawardy Udyan and adjacent areas in the afternoon.
The national flag hoisting programme was done under the assistance of army and sponsored by ROBI and thousands of students. The national anthem singing programme was organised by Gonojagoron Mancha and Sectors Commanders Forum. Both the programmes were attended by mass people irrespective of caste and creed. All the credit goes to the sponsors, volunteers, Bangladesh Army and the ordinary people of the city. Long live Bangladesh.

Forgiveness

Afew days back on my way to home by bus at Malibag intersection, I noticed a young lad shouting at an elderly conductor. The young man did not pay his due fare! But he kept on arguing with the conductor and at one point, started beating him. To our surprise, he did not fight back. He rather advised the young man not do behave this way. The patience and compassion with which he dealt with the young man is unprecedented. I do not know where he learned to nurture so much love and forgiveness in his heart. But surely, it will have an impact, on some level, in the heart of the youngster. The elderly bus conductor gave me hope that there are alternative ways to deal with a difficult situation.
