Fear Has Gripped the City
Continuous and apparently irresistible shocking incidents of targeted killings are throwing Bangladesh into the age of inertia and radicalism. Even the state of apprehension and fear has engulfed the minds of the intellectuals who are supposed to be the voice of the nation. The most frightening reality is even the armed law enforcers have been so awfully demoralised that they have even failed to protect themselves from the ruthless attacks of the assailants. It is very unfortunate that in front of our very eyes Bangladesh is gradually but surely entering into an uncertain, bleak future; hats off to the Star Weekend for depicting these issues so pragmatically in the last week's spotlight article (published on November 6,2015).

Respect Children's Rights
A hotel boy of Ghoroa hotel & restaurant was shot dead by his employer only because he wanted to change his job for high salary. Rajon a 10 year old boy was beaten to death by some monsters in human disguise. We have seen how Bangladesh cricket player Shahadat Hossain and his wife tortured their housemaid almost to death who was not more than 12 years old. These unpleasant, sickening reports are becoming more and more frequent in the newspapers of our country. Though justice has been ensured for Rajon's murderers, to get rid of these incidents, we must learn how to respect children and their rights as individual persons.

Don't Mock the Man God
The satire article titled "Don't Mock the Man God" (published on November 6, 2015) was a very well written article full of humour and reality. The article reminded me of the gloomy history of autocracy, oppression and exploitation that existed throughout the world in different times. In fact, the very fateful fact is even in 21st century we are still not free from the clutches of the tyrannical rulers who have ascended themselves to the position of dummy gods. Democracy and free speech has always been muzzled by these man-gods. I liked this satirical article because it has revealed the vile nature of these arrogant ruling classes in a very charming and straightforward manner.
