"Surviving The Tremors"
Four earthquakes in three days! It is a miracle we haven't been affected much. It is amazing to see how resilient the people of Nepal have been through this ordeal. We must remember how vulnerable we are in the face of such a disaster. I would like to thank The Star Weekend for publishing such a resourceful spotlight story (published on May 1, 2015) on this important issue.

"Fighting the Plague"
The article titled "Fighting the Plague" (published May 1, 2015) was topical and well researched. However, toward the end of the article the writer has expected that the newly elected mayors will take steps toward solving Dhaka's water crisis issues which I think has showed his lack of knowledge about Bangladeshi political culture. These mayors will never pay any heed to people's problem as they did not care about people's opinion during the poll. It is very unfortunate that so many citizens of Dhaka who are surrounded by four rivers pay so much for water yet can't get a drop of safe drinking water at home.

"At the Root of Matter"
The Star Weekend has been publishing a series of thought provoking articles on sexual harassment. The recently published article titled "At the Root of Matter" (published May 1, 2015) was also very moving. But do all these good efforts have any impact on our society? The government is not taking any steps and police did not arrest anyone of the perpetrators of the TSC incident. Besides writing these articles and criticising each other, can't we think of any other pragmatic step which will be able to shake their conscience and convince them to implement justice?
