"To post or not to post"

Social media has become an indispensable part of the life of our young people. It has become another world to them.

This week The Star Weekend's spotlight (published on May 8,2015) has described many aspects of social media including the practice of freedom of expression in Bangladesh.

However, I think one of the worst aspects of social media is it has bottled up our young generation at home.

Sometimes I feel that if social media were invented back in 1952, perhaps we would find only a facebook event in demand of the recognition of our mother tongue.

"Everything Begins At Home"

The article titled 'Everything Begins At Home' (published on May 8, 2015) has portrayed the plight of the domestic workers.

It is really sad how they are treated mercilessly by their so called "masters." I think this beastly practice is no less barbaric than the medieval slavery.

I would like to thank the Star Weekend for bringing out this important issue. I also would like to appeal to all to show respect to their basic rights and treat them with sympathy and compassion.

Bests for Bangladeshi Cricket

Bangladeshi people are cricket maniacs. Cricket has become the symbol of patriotism. This is the only game that bridges all our differences and consolidates our unity. Now Bangladesh cricket team is more consistent than before.

It is like emergence of new Bangladeshi team who are playing cricket for its own people and country. Since the world cup, our players have been performing brilliantly.

Bangladesh beat England in the world cup and paved the way for quarter final but luck did not favour them in the quarter final.

Bangladesh team retains its consistent performance and whitewashed Pakistan in the home ODI series. Bangladesh  will face India in June and we expect our team will continue its amazing performance. Best wishes for Bangladesh crick team.
