Sticks & Stones

Too fat, too thin, too pimply, too dark, too pale, too hairy, too short…too much. Too much of shaming going on in this world. He shames you, you shame her, she shames him but no one bothers to look at their own reflection before bringing someone down. I'm all for constructive criticism but do we know how much is enough, or what havoc our carelessly thrown words may wreak? Our cover story in this issue delves into 'fat shaming', why people do it and what impact it has on those on the receiving end.
When trying to be funny, do you practice restraint? Do you tend to take it too far? After many simulated situations and endless joke-telling, we have come up with a “dos and don'ts” list. Just remember the Q-tip reference next time you're at a shindig and you're busy posing as the “hedom” [see Untranslatable].
Do you often question the music choice at Holuds? Our resident social event connoisseur did. You're welcome.
And maintaining the theme of unnecessarily judging and detesting strangers based on their appearances, we present the third installment of “Things they don't tell you about Bidesh”, the racism special.
