Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed the inauguration ceremony of a special art exhibition titled "1973-2023 Retrospective" with the selected paintings of Independence Award-winning and internationally-acclaimed artist and valiant freedom fighter Shahabuddin Ahmed at Bangladesh National Museum in the city's Shahbagh area, yesterday.

Anika Roy’s first solo exhibition titled “Window” was inaugurated on September 10, where she answered the aforementioned question through her series of paintings and installations. Using pen, pencil and other colouring mediums, Anika tells the story of her perspectives as she meandered through the lane of her artworks. 

The event showcases a mesmerising collection of 53 art installations, highlighting Friends of ’71 Bangladesh and the beauty of nature.

This project showcases a vibrant collection of artworks, including collages, sculptures, photographs, VR animation and poetry - that delve into the artists' thoughts and conversations about Bangladesh.

The exhibition is open to visitors of all ages, which is a perfect place for people to enjoy.

During the workshop, the eight artists –Dina Zaman, Sadia Hussain Ether, Abir Shome, Syed Tareq Rahman, Jewel A. Rob, Sanjid Mahmud, Rupam Roy, Emran Sohel produced art pieces along with the kids of Shishupolli. Dina herself wore full white clothes and asked the kids to paint on them. They also painted with the art supplies they received at the workshop. It ended with a small cultural program by the residents of Shishupolli.

One of the intentions of the exhibition was to bring a global element to the COVID-19 experience through the images from other countries in which Uzan had travelled.

Daagi’s latest exhibition, which has been titled “Zero Calorie”, tries to re-explore our contemporary issues, questioning and reminding us of the usual narratives which are underlyingly problematic and collectively ignored. For instance, even their choice of words in the exhibition title and note has a metaphorical meaning too.

The first piece of AMS is ‘Lost in Translation’ by visual artist Azizee Fawmi Khan. In search of the soul of a lost city, the artist traveled to Panam Nagar, collected some of its snippets—including the local folktales—and found a connection with the drama ‘Neel Darpan’ by Dinabandhu Mitra.

As one of the most popular elements of modern-art, abstraction brings forth unknown and unseen emotions and thought-processes. “Dreams Ascendant”, Saifuddin Ahmed’s first solo exhibition, shows a dominance of this particular style. The inauguration of the exhibition took place at Gallery Shilpangan, Lalmatia on December 4. Artist and cartoonist Shishir Bhattacharjee, and Professor Nisar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Art at University of Dhaka were present at the opening ceremony.

On 17 November, Kuhu Plamondon hosted her 3rd art exhibition at the Bay Edgewater Gallery, Gulshan Dhaka. Finding inspiration from the simplest of things, Kuhu’s art collection this time was a sheer reflection of her thoughts. The third edition of Ora Egaro Jon, presented by Bangladesh Art Week, a voice of Bangladesh’s art industry that provides a platform for emerging and established artists to showcase their artwork in an international context, brought together internationally renowned and established Bangladeshi artists alongside invited younger artists. Bangladesh Art Week introduced A.R.E (Augmented Reality Exhibition), a collection of portable generative art showcasing the work of 11 female artists at Dhaka Gallery, a concept that brings together some of the best generative art in South Asia, offering a uniquely immersive art experience.
