Dhaka Storytellers’ “Art for Charity” event on 30 August 2024 united 19 artists to support Bangladesh flood victims. Proceeds went to disaster relief, showcasing art’s power in fostering community spirit and resilience.

Toya and her husband, Sayed Zaman Shawon, who is also an artiste, both joined the movement. They have also sent aid and volunteered to support flood victims.

She highlighted the significant challenge of sending aid, “We managed to gather a significant amount of relief items in Dhaka for those affected by the floods but delivering them was challenging due to fragile communication systems in flood-hit rural areas.” 

The initiative will support about 3,500 families primarily in the hardest-hit areas of Southeastern and Northeastern Bangladesh.

As Bangladesh grapples with severe flooding, celebrities have united to support those affected by this disaster. Regions such as Feni, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Cumilla, Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Rangamati, and Khagrachari are experiencing one of the worst floods in recent history.
