Nearly 1,900 people are killed and 46 others reported missing in rains and floods across India this year, Home Ministry officials says.

All the 700 people on board an express train, which was stranded on flooded tracks in an open field in Badlapur, about 60 kilometres from Mumbai, are rescued.

More than 300 people have been killed in the Indian state of Kerala by the worst flooding to hit the region in a century, authorities say, as troop reinforcements stepped up rescue efforts.

Around 25,000 people have been evacuated to safety across Gujarat after several districts in the north and central parts of India were flooded following heavy rains.

Heavy monsoon rains in India have killed more than 100 people in the past week and forced tens of thousands of people to take shelter in relief camps, India's home ministry has said.
