Iran’s supreme leader yesterday declared that the United States had suffered a shameful defeat, defiantly rejecting a warning from President Donald Trump that an economically punishing US naval blockade could be enforced for months to come.

Khamenei's face was disfigured in the attack on the supreme leader's compound in central Tehran and he suffered a significant injury to one or both legs, all three sources said.

"I heard news that Mr Mojtaba Khamenei had been injured. I have asked some friends who had connections," says Iranian president's son Yousef Pezeshkian
