Women's International Master (WIM) Wadifa Ahmed began her campaign at the World Youth Chess Championship with a defeat, losing to Poland's FIDE Master Klara Szczotka in the Girls' Under-18 category in Montesilvano, Italy, on Monday.

There was triple delight for Wadifa, who not only won the women’s championship but also earned the status of a Women’s International Master alongside earning a place in the Chess World Cup.

Women Fide Master (WFM) Wadifa Ahmed clinched the Asian Zonal Chess Championship Zone 3.2 title in Colombo, Sri Lanka today to qualify for the upcoming Chess World Cup.
