Worst trends of 2013

Most years are made up of the good and the bad but this article is just about the ugly. I bring you, the five things of this year that we should have already puked on and thrown away.
1. The Happy Page and its variants: I know most of you like sharing cute little things from The Happy Page and it was really nice to see some illustrators fill the internet up with positive thoughts wrapped with bubbles and strawberry syrup. But then came its followers: The Sad Page, The Annoying Page, The Bangladeshi Happy Page, The I Wish Page and more as such. Voila, an era of hopes expressed as stick figures to fill your Facebook homepage.
2. Selfies (the Men edition): Like we didn't have enough of duck faces and CamWows, now there are boys taking selfies too? I have to admit though, at least girls had varieties of snap chats, webcam selfies, pouts and loads of fake eyelashes. All you guys out there only offer slanted smiles and sweaty foreheads after street football matches. Got to work harder to impress, guys.

3. Rise of ComanganiméCon: Yours truly is a huge fan of comics but even then I have to say, three ComicCons in a year? That amount of fandom is just too damn high. You'd think that the youth of Bangladesh is truly changing with its taste in art with so many fans throwing cheesy lines from The Avengers and what not. Only when you go to one of the ComicCons yourself, you find the many men with ogling eyes simply visiting for the “fun” of it. And then there are “internet phenomenon” like the collection of comments [see accompanying screenshot] which really make you wonder what goes on at ComicCon.
4. Miley Cyrus and the tales of twerking: Yes, she did something so explicit at the VMAs that it enraged your inner anger at pop music. It was so much more shocking than Britney and Madonna's kiss and the performance definitely did not go through VMA's rehearsals so it was not censored. And oh em gee, did you even hear “Wrecking Ball”? It's just so much worse than any other pop song even though it sounds like Katy Perry's “Firework” with your eyes closed.
5. Working on weekends: Ok, this is probably more like a forced habit rather than a trend but working on the weekends and staying home during weekdays is by far, the most annoying thing that happened in 2013. At least, that's what the futile Facebook status updates about how frustrating oborodhs are tell me.
Disclaimer: Please receive this list with a holiday spirit and don't send a mob after me for saying anything hurtful.
