Staff Correspondent, Khulna
Two 'extremists' were killed by unidentified gunmen on Saturday at a bazaar at Moubhog village under Fakirhat thana in Bagerhat district.

The dead have been identified as Amiya Bairagi,32, and Nani Gopal Mandol,34.

Police and locals told this correspondent that a group of masked young men attacked the victims when they were drinking tea in a shop at Moubhogh bazaar. They died on the spot. While fleeing, the youths exploded hand bombs. Police recovered dead bodies one and a half hours after the incident. They recovered four used shells of bullet and plinters from the spot.

Police said the murders were a sequel to rivalry between two factions of outlawed PBCP. Both of the dead victims were FIR-named accused of van driver Quddus murder case of Fakirhat thana. After their release from Bagerhat jail they were involved in various crimes again.

PBCP (Janajuddho) claimed the responsibility of the murders. PBCP sent a fax message half an hour after the incident on Saturday night.
