JS body visits Mahalchhari, assures victims' rehab

During the visit, the five-member committee talked to the members of victim families, other villagers and assured them of providing government support for rehabilitation of sufferers.

They said the government has taken steps to ensure peace in the area for safety and security of lives and property of tribal people.

The committee led by Musarraf Hossain visited villages Lemochhari, Babupara and Sawmil Para.

The delegation included Deputy Minister for CHT Affairs Moni Swapan Dewan, Chairman of Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Abdul Wadud Bhuiyan MP, Mustafa Kamal Pasa MP, and Sayeed Muazzam Hossain Alal MP.

Later, they distributed 3.70 lakh tons of foodgrains among the victim families. They also attended a peace rally arranged by Mohalchhari upazila administration.

A large number of tribal and non-tribal people attended the peace rally.
