Sit-in before DC's office, rally held at Gaibandha

The Gaibandha district unit of Jatiya Sikkhak Karmachari Front (Natioanl Teacher-Employee Front) staged a sit-in in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office for about an hour yesterday to press its 8-point demand.

It also and handed over a memorandum to the DC.

Earlier, it brought out a procession in the town and held a rally on the Shaheed Minar premise.

The rally, presided over by Momtazur Rahman, district convenor of the unit, was addressed by, among others, Monirul Islam, Golam Rabbani, Saiful Islam and Kazi Raihan.

The speakers urged Prime Minister Khaleda Zia to intervene for so that their demands are met.

The demands include ten per cent enhancement of salary, house rent, medical and dearness allowance, as committed by the government earlier.

They also demanded revival of welfare trust and introduction of pension.
