Joy turns into tragedy

Shahina, her brother and mother came to the park from Dumuria village under Gournadi upazila.

She purchased a ticket and took a ride. But as soon as the marry-go-round was switched on, her chair turned upside down and Shahina fell on the ground. She was injured in the head.

She was rushed to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital but soon after doctors declared her dead.

The family returned home with the body of Shahina after autopsy at the hospital.

A UD case has been filed with the Kotwali thana.

Some sources claimed that the marry-go-round was defective.

But advocate Showkat Hossain Hiron, city AL convener and owner of the park, when contacted denied the allegation. He claimed that the girl might have been nervous when her chair reached a height and so she fell.
