Cancel new dist body, demand Manikganj Jubo Dal men

Hundreds of activists of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal, youth wing of the ruling BNP, have been continuing their movement for cancellation of their new district unit committee, formed in a council session held on September 23 and for formation of a convening committee.

They brought out a procession on September 20 demanding cancellation of the September 23 council. They organised a protest meeting on September 21 in front of Manikganj Press Club where they termed the council 'illegal' and 'more partisan'.

Former president of Manikganj district unit of Jubo Dal Maksudur Rahman Makul presided over the meeting while it was addressed, among others, by former Jubo Dal secretary Ikbal Ahmed Mukta, Kamrul Hasan Khokon, former JCD Manikganj district unit presidents Mahbub Hossain, Golam Kibria Sayeed, Abdul Awal, Tojammel Haque, incumbent president of JCD Golam Abedin Kayser, joint secretary Mustafizur Rahman Prince.

They said that the council organisers formed pocket committees without holding upazila council.

However, the council of the district Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal was held on September 23 where many BNP leaders and three local law makers were absent.

The councillors elected Motaleb Hossain and ASM Ikbal Hossain president and secretary.

The council was held after seven years at Manikganj Government Boys High School play ground.

In Manikganj district there are four BNP law makers, but only chief whip of Jatiya Sangsad Advocate Khandaker Delwar Hossain attended the council.

Processions were held on September 25 and September 30 demanding cancellation of the newly formed committee.

Among others, former vice president of central unit of JCD Kazi Rayhan Uddin Tuku, GM Rafi Apu, Riaz Mahmud Harez, Saifur Rahman Linkon, Abdul Matin Biswas, Arif Hossain addressed.
