Body of young man recovered
The body of a young man, who had contested for the post of ward commissioner in the last city corporation poll, was recovered recently from a pond in Tultikor area of the city on Saturday.
The body, packed in a gunny bag, was floating in the pond.
The victim, Jamal Uddin, 35, went out of his house with Tk 500 on Tuesday night to buy medicines. He was missing since then.
Not finding Jamal, his mother Rashida Khatun went to his uncle's house to search him.
There, she saw a gunny bag floating in the pond. Out of curiosity, she cut the bag and fainted seeing the body of her son.
The body bore marks of injury.
Police arrested Jamal's aunt Salma Begum and rickshawpuller Rangu Miah, who used to stay at that house.
Autopsy of the body was done at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital on Sunday.
