Probe an eyewash to save Imam's killers, son claims

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mohammod Abdullah Al Mamun Jami alleged that his father was murdered by killers hired by godfathers although outlawed PBCP (Janajuddho) claimed responsibility.

"What is now going is nothing but an eyewash investigation. I do not understand why the main shooter Ganesh is not being nabbed, as named by PBCP (J) outlaw Shukur Gazi in his judicial confession", he said.

Ganesh was recently seen crossing Rupsha river by boat from Coca-Cola Ghat in city with the help of a police sub-inspector, Jami claimed.

As complainant of the case, he sought co-operation of 'saner people' in the society including media men 'irrespective of political affiliation' to compel police to reveal the real motive of the murder and to arrest the killers and the masterminds.

Terming police action as a 'farce', Jami said there has been no progress in investigation although Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) are well equipped with all necessary evidence as per reports of all intelligence agencies.

Investigating officers have no intention to dig into the murder case, he alleged.

Because, they intentionally did not record the dying statement of advocate Bijon Bihari Mondol who succumbed to bomb and bullet injuries at Khulna Medical College Hospital 36 hours after the incident.

Manjurul Imam and Bijon Bihari were fatally injured when bombs were hurled on them in the city at about 10-30 am on August 25.

The death of Bijon Bihari and police failure in recording his dying statement seems to be mysterious Jami said.

Besides, another PBCP (J) outlaw Ripon arrested recently gave important information to the IO about the killers and the masterminds.

But the IO refused to send him to court for recording his judicial statement, Sami alleged in his written statement at the press conference.
