BSF to withdraw barbed wire fences

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has agreed to withdraw the barbed wire fences it raised earlier in the no-man's land in the border between the two countries.

BDR and BSF signed an agreement to this effect at a flag meeting on Saturday, BDR sources said.

The flag meeting at sector commander level was held at a BSF camp in Agartala in the Indian state of Tripura.

Lt. Col. Md Amer Azam Khan, BDR commander in Comilla sector, led the Bangladesh side, while DIG SC Vaid of BSF Tripura led the Indian side.

The two sides also agreed to take steps to maintain peace in the border area from Feni to Taliapara of Habiganj, the sources said.
