Local government leaders decry 14th Constitution Amendment Bill

The meting was organised by the Satkhira chapter of the National Union Parisahd Forum (NUPF), a national organisation of local government leaders, in front of the deputy commissioner's (DC) office here yesterday morning.

Speakers threatened to go to court to challenge the amendment and would launch a greater agitation if the government passes the bill.

Earlier, over 150 chairmen and members of union parishads in the district brought out a procession in the town.

Later, they submitted a memorandum to the DC containing their 16-point demands.
