AL leader Khaleque faces corruption case

The district anti-corruption bureaus of Khulna and Bagerhat have submitted four chargesheets against the city Awami League (AL) president Talukdar Abdul Khaleque MP.

The FIRs were lodged in the first and second week of January least year by former Director of Bagerhat DAB Md Nazrul Islam and Inspector Enayet Hossain as complainants.

The complainants said that while serving as state minister for relief and rehabilitation, Talukder Abdul Khaleque abused power by obtaining the construction and renovation work of four educational institutions worth one crore taka in name of his own firm 'Nahar Trading.'

The four educational institutions are Malliker Berh Senior Madrassa, Abul Dalam Azad Degree College, Sundarban Mahila College and Srfaltala Multipurpose High School.

Khaleque influenced the authorities concerned of the Facilities Department for the work illegally.

Two other chargesheeted accused are former chief engineer of the Facilities Department MA Mannan and Talukdar Abdul Jalil.
