Abduction
4 acquitted for lack of evidence
All the four accused in the sensational freedom fighter's wife Mahfuza Abduction and Rape Case were acquitted of charges by the judge of Woman and Child Repression Control Court, Mahtab Uddin for lack of evidence.
Those who were acquitted are Amirul Islam Baidya, son of Rahman Baidya, Mozam alias Tozambar, son of Nazar Ali, Asaduzzaman, son of Omar Ali and Hasan, son of Enayet Ali, all of Hijaldi village in Kalaroa upazila.
Mahfuza, 35, wife of freedom fighter Atiar Rahman of the aforesaid village was abducted allegedly by BNP activists at night on August 26 in 2002.
