'RU Dy Registrar killed by PBCP'

He was killed by PBCP to establish its supremacy in the region, the OC said quoting Quamruzzaman Mithu, 'political commander' of the outlawed party in Rajshahi region, arrested on Friday. He did not elaborate for the sake of investigation.

Mithu is being interrogated on remand, he said. Some PBCP leaflets recovered from Mithu also claimed responsibility for the murder, the OC said.

Mithu admitted that he along with some of his associates killed Mustafa not for "political revenge" but only for creating terror among people.

The OC said Mithu also admitted that he was involved in the attempt to kill Ward Commissioner Golam Kuddus on May 4.

Hailing from Court Chandpur of Jhenaidah district, Mithu completed his Masters degree on Public Administration from Rajshahi University this year.

Mohammad Mostofa was killed on the night of June 4 . Police arrested three Awami League workers.
