JCD leader sued by party man for extortion

Fifteen Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists of Kishoreganj unit including its president and his four brothers were sued on Friday by the unit general secretary (GS) for snatching toll money on June 25.

Kishoregonj JCD GS Abdullah-Al-Masud Sumon filed the case with Karimganj police station against the unit president Saiful Islam, his four brothers Saddam, Sayam, Rumon, Nadvi, JCD activists Rumal, Kala Ahamed, Deen Islam, Sawpon, Rubel and five other JCD activists.

Police sources said Sumon was collecting toll at Karimganj see port when Saiful and others equipped with fire arms and sharp weapons appeared and demanded 50,000 taka from Sumon. On refusal, Saiful's brother Saddam snatched away 24,700 taka.

Police arrested Deen Islam.
