UP chairman, relief official sued for stealing VGF rice
The Burean of Anti-corruption has filed a case with Shaghata thana against a Union Parishad chairman and a relief official for alleged misappropriation of 60 bags rice allocated under Vulnarable Group Feeding (VGF) programme, official sources said.
The government had allocated six tonnes of rive for destitute people of Ghuridaha union under Shaghata upazila in 2003.
The UP chairman lifted the quantity on November 1, 2003 and stored 60 rice bags at his house.
Being informed Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Abedur Rahman and a police team led by magistrate recovered the 60 bags.
The UP chairman could, not be arrested as he fled away sensing the raid.
