Jubo Dal leader held for extortion
Police here said, to avoid political pressure for his release and for security reason, Gouranadi police sent him Barisal immediately after arrest. He was sent to Jail on Friday.
When contacted, Gouranadi thana Officer-in-charge Zia Ul Karim said Lablu was wanted in many cases filed for extortion and harassing minority community people in his area.
He was also allegedly involved in the recent murder of Khokon Sarder, organising secretary of Batajore union Jubao Dal, the OC said.
People in the area earlier alleged that Lablu, local Union Parishad member Anwar Hossain and their gang created a reign of terror among minority community people in Bachher, Adhuna, Chandrahar Singha, Bankura and Kalihati villages in Batajore union.
Local people including ruling party men had brought out processions demanding arrest and punishment of Lablu, Anwar and their gang members.
Police said they are after Anwar.
