'Implement uplift schemes in hills at any cost'

Presided over by Rangamati Hill District Council (RHDC) Chairman Dr Maniklal Dewan, the meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Dr Jafar Ahmed Khan, Police Superintendent Humayun Kabir, Conservator of Forest (Rangamati Region) Md Musharaf Hossain, Rangamati Municipalty Chairman Habibur Rahman and top officials from government departments, non-government organization (NGO), autonomy bodies and semi-government organizations. All the 10 Upazila Nirbahee Officers and Officers-in- Charge (OCs) of all 11 thanas attended the meeting.
Moniswapan also asked officials to arrest criminals irrespective of their party affiliations to curb crime, meeting sources said.
He urged the officials of NGOs, autonomous and semi-government organizations to co-operate in implementing development programmes.
Sources said this was the first DCC meeting in several months where all officials concerned were present.
