2 killed, 62 hurt in Rangamati road mishap

Two persons were killed and 62 injured, 10 of them seriously, when an over loaded bus fell into a roadside ditch at Jamtoli in Rajostholi upazila yesterday morning.

The bus fell about 60 feet below when the driver lost control when it reached Jamtoli, 5 km from the upazila headquarters.

The dead are Mridu Marma, 32 and Md Ibrahim, 25, Sub Inspector (SI) Shafiqul Gani of Rajostholi thana told the Daily Star

Of the injured, 10 were taken to the upazila health complex and later shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Others were admitted to Chandraghuna Mission Hospital and the upazila health complex, sources said.

Rajostholi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jahurul Huque rush to the spot immediately after the accident and supervised the rescue operation.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Jafar Ahmed Khan donated Tk 20000 for treatment of injured persons, sources at the DC's office said.
