JMJB active in Bagmara

The cadres of Jagrata Muslim Janata Bangladesh (JMJB) have become active again in Bagmara.

Three persons sustained serious injuries when they hanged them from a tree and beat them with iron rod and stick at a public place at Gangopara in Bagmara on Thursday.

The injured are persons are VDP (Village Defence Party ) member Shahar Ali, Hafizul Islam and Abdul Mannan. Police recovered and kept them at the thana hajat without any treatment.

A local JMJB leader, Mustafijur Rahman Mostak filed a case against the three persons for gambling. Police said, they recovered a set of playing cards and Tk 24 from them.

However, the victims' relatives told this correspondent the attack was a sequel to a feud over land and monetary affairs.

Witnesses said, JMJB activists Mostak, Rohidul and Mahabur Rahman stormed into the house of a villager named Sirajul Islam where the three persons were playing cards for pastime.

They dragged them out of the house and took them to Gangopara crossing where they beat them.

Sources said, police called the attackers at the police station to lodge a case against the injured persons.

Bagmara police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Kibria told reporters that a mob beat up three gamblers. "I do not know whether the mob include JMJB members", he said in reply to a question.

JMJB leader Mustafijur rahman Mostak termed the three persons as identified gamblers. 'They used to gamble regularly at the house,'he said.

Shahar Ali's family members told that Rohidul had a quarrel with Shahar Ali's son over money and land.

Captain Rashid of Rab told this correspondent that they already started working in Bagmara.
