Journo assaulted in Barisal
Murad Ahmed, Executive Editor of regional daily Ajker Barta and Barisal Correspondent of national English daily Independent, was assaulted and threatened of "dire consequences" by some activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) for publishing a news.
Murad is also former secretary of Barisal Press Club and Barisal Journalist Union.
Motorcycle riding JCD activists intercepted Murad when he was going office Wednesday evening. They assaulted him for "tarnishing the image of JCD" by publishing a news in the Ajker Barta. Murad later filed a general diary with police.
The Barisal Press Club and the Journalists Union later condemned the threat and demanded security of journalists and arrest of the miscreants.
