Pry edn faces setback in Jessore
About 23,000 children aged between 5 to 10 years in eight upazilas in the district are not attending school.
There are 3 lakh 64 thousand 485 children of school going age in the aforesaid upazilas, according to a source in the District Primary Education Office (DPEO). Of them three lakh 41 thousand 777 go to schools. One lakh 74,000 of them are boys and 1 lakh 67 thousand 777 are girls. They read in 1,853 government and non-government schools.
The DPEO office sources further said 1 lakh 59 thousand 673 boys and girls read in 662 government primary schools. About 84,365 children read in 480 registered primary schools, 5,910 children in 36 unregistered primary schools. As many as 14,077 children read in 43 primary schools attached to high schools, 8,965 boy and girls read in 78 kindergartens, 9,918 read in 88 exclusive Ebtedayee madrassas, 17,472 read in 180 Ebtedayee madrassas attached to senior madrassas, 12,112 children read in 80 community primary schools, 6,302 in 205 NGO Schools and 275 children read in pimary schools attached to Primary Training Institute (PTI), Jessore.
