Satkhira poura polls campaign gains momentum

Three candidates are contesting for chairmanship. They are incumbent chairman Sheikh Ashraful Haq of Awami League (AL), former chairman Abdul Jail of BNP and Syed Ektiar Ali, younger brother of former General Secretary of district BNP Syed Iftekhar Ali (Independent).

Fifty-three candidates will contest fors nine ward commissioner posts and 17 women candidates will vie for three reserved seats, according to the district election office.

They visit from door to door to woo voters. Colourful posters with photographs of candidates are on display allover. Leaflets are being distributed among voters.
