4 killed, one abducted by outlaws in 2 days

A businessman was killed in Mehrpur and a farmer was abducted in Jhenidah on Friday night.

A college student abducted in Chuadanga on Wednesday is yet to be rescued.

In Kushtia, transport worker Borhan Uddin Jewel, 18, of Chouras area of the town was called out of his house at night and shot dead at Fultola.

Police said previous enmity could be the reason for the murder.

Police sent the body to Kushtia General Hospital for autopsy but could not arrest any of the killers.

On the same night, activists of outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-Janajuddho) shot dead Milon Hossain, a member of village defense party at Kurshabaria in Mirpur upazila. The miscreants waylaid him and fired on him pointblank, killing him on the spot.

Police recovered the body and sent to hospital for autopsy.

In Chuadanga, PBCP activists belonging to Janajuddho faction slaughtered Abdul Khalek, an activist of its rival faction, (PBCP-ML) at KaliaBakri village in Damurhuda upazila.

The killers stormed into his house, took him on a nearby road on gunpoint and slaughtered him. Police sent the body to Chuadana Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Later in a statement Janjuddho claimed responsibility for the killing, terming it a revenge for a killing on the previous night.

According to sources, cadres of PBCP-ML slaughtered one Imam Uddin of Janajuddho faction at Dulalapur in Mujibnagar upazila in Meherpur district on Friday night

Meherpur police said outlaws belonging to Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-ML) called fish trader Imam Uddin, 33, out of his house at Dulalpur village in Mujibnagar upazila at about 11 pm, took him to a nearby field and slaughtered him as he failed to pay toll money.

One Sumon later claimed responsibility for the killing, alleging that Imam had patronised PBCP-Janajudddho.

Victim's family said cadres the outlaws had demanded Tk 2 lakh toll after Imam leased a waterbody in the area ignoring PBCP-ML's warning.

Police sent the body to Meherpur Sadar hospital for autopsy and filed a case.

In Jhenidah , criminals in the guise of police abducted farmer Sunil Kumar Mondol, 50, from Mahisdanga village in Sailkupa upazila Friday night and later demanded Tk 2 lakh ransom.

Family sources said local Union Parishad chairman and members were negotiating his release.

When contacted Sailkupa police said they heard the incident, but no body filed any complainant.

Police could not rescue college student Asaduzzaman Liton, 24, abducted on Wednesday for Tk 4 lakh ransom.

A gang kidnapped Lito, a degree student of Alamdanga Degree College, when he was returning home from market at about 9 pm.

Sources said the victim's family did not inform police fearing retaliation by the abductors.
