4 killed, 18 hurt in Ashuganj bus plunge
The four died on the spot. They are Abdul Zabber, 35; Nazneen Begum, 3; Mohiron Bibi, 25 and Monuara Khatun, 45.
Eighteen of the injured were admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital and the rest were given first aid at Bhairab Health Complex, Ashugonj Hospital, Earail Health Complex and other local clinics.
They are Amunul Islam, Yonus Ali, 70, Ebadur Rahman, 25, Naim Uddin, 50, Hafizul Rahman, 45, Milon Mia 25, Nazma Akter 25, Julekha Begum 50, Zahangir Alam, 25, Mustofa Mia, 25, Shahu Mia, 25, Kalim Uddin, 40, Jutsna Akter, 25, Abdul Khaleq, 45, Jomila Begum, 30, Ishak Mia, 50, Subhan Mia, 7, Helal Mia, 30. Five of them are in critical condition, sources at the Sadar Hospital said.
Ashugonj upazila Nirbahai Officer (UNO) Khaled Abu Naser, Brahmanbaria ASP Kamruzzaman, Sadar thana OC Ali Arzan rushed to spot and conducted the rescue work.
The autopsy of the bodies were done at the Sadar Hospital.
A case was filed with Ashugonj police situation in this regard.
The driver and the helper of the bus manage to escape. The salvaged bus is at Ashugonj thana now.
