Anti-drug rally held in Manikganj
Thousands of people in seven areas of Sadar upazila brought a joint procession and held an anti-drug rally at Jhukuria village after Jumma prayers on Friday.
The areas are Jhukuria, Dergram, Porra, Jagir, Nabogram, Shibbari and Borai.
Former Manikganj Pourasabha Commissioner Khabirul Alam Chowdhury presided over the rally while it was addressed, among others, by Manikganj Diabetic Samity Secretary and BNP leader Ataur Rahman, Manikganj Awami Juba League Secretary AFM Sultanul Azam Khan, Jagir Union Parishad Chairman Shamsul Alam Khan and Jagir High School Headmaster Mejbaul Haque.
They drove away two drug traders Jinnah and Sattar from their village and demolished the house of drug lord Shyamol at Dashara in the town.
Meanwhile, some youngsters here under the banner, Conscious Young Generation have launched a campaign against drug abuse recently.
