14-pt demand placed at Mab meet in Jessore

Presided over by Jessore Pourasava chairperson Kamruzzaman Chunnu, the meeting was addressed by Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) advocate Sheikh Tayebur Rahman as chief guest.

The demands included changing the post of pourasava chairman into mayor, giving authority of allotting 'khas' land to pourasava chairperson and canceling power of commissioners to bring 'No-confidence' motion against the pourasava chairman.

With a view to increasing income of the pourasava, hats and bazaars and water bodies inside the pourasava must be placed under the authority of the pourasava, it was also demanded.

MAB president and Tongi Pourasava chairperson advocate Azmatullah Khan addressed as the main speaker.

Gazipur Pourasava chairperson AKM Mozammel Haque, ex Jessore Government M M College principal Afsar Ali, Jessore Press Club president Fakir Shaukal, Jessore Sangbadpatra Parishad president and Dainik Kallyan editor Ekram-ud-Daula and Banchtey Shekha executive director Angela Gomez addressed the meeting.

Tangail Pourasava chairperson Zaminlur Rahman Milon, Bera Pourasava chairman Abdul Baten and chairpersons of a number of pourasavas in 10 districts in Khulna division were present.
